{"id":131,"date":"2010-03-06T12:20:00","date_gmt":"2010-03-06T17:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rick.sh\/index.php\/2010\/03\/06\/installing-hp-system-management-tools-in-vsphere\/"},"modified":"2010-03-06T12:20:00","modified_gmt":"2010-03-06T17:20:00","slug":"installing-hp-system-management-tools-in-vsphere","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rick.sh\/index.php\/2010\/03\/06\/installing-hp-system-management-tools-in-vsphere\/","title":{"rendered":"Installing HP System Management tools in vSphere"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So I had this issue where I needed to modify RAID controller settings and add more drives on a DL380 G6 running VSphere 4.0 Update 1 while in production with no downtime.<br \/>Here&#8217;s how it&#8217;s done:<\/p>\n<p>Download the<span style=\"font-size:100%;\"> &#8220;HP Management Agents for VMware ESX 4.x&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/h20000.www2.hp.com\/bizsupport\/TechSupport\/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&amp;cc=us&amp;mode=2&amp;taskId=135&amp;swItem=MTX-914ce1572e0148df9ff634b99f\">here<\/a><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><\/span> and the<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"> &#8220;HP Array Configuration Utility for Linux&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/h20000.www2.hp.com\/bizsupport\/TechSupport\/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&amp;cc=US&amp;swItem=MTX-a72c1471380f45f4a5cb2f4ec9\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">Using the vSphere client utility to copy the files to the server preferably in a new folder.<\/p>\n<p>Now, SSH into the server and CD into the directory where the new files are and extract the .tgz file by run the following:<br \/><span style=\"font-family:courier new;\">tar -zxvf hpmgmt-8.3.0-vmware4x.tgz<\/span><\/p>\n<p>now run the shell script using the &#8211;install switch:<br \/><span style=\"font-family:courier new;\">.\/<\/span><\/span><span style=\";font-family:courier new;font-size:100%;\">hpmgmt\/830\/<\/span><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><span style=\"font-family:courier new;\">install830vibs.sh &#8211;install<\/span><\/p>\n<p>install the ACU by running:<br \/><span style=\"font-family:courier new;\">rpm -i cpqacuxe-8.35-7.0.noarch.rpm <\/span><\/p>\n<p>enable remote ACU control:<br \/><span style=\"font-family:courier new;\">cpqacuxe -R<\/span><\/p>\n<p>And that&#8217;s it.<br \/>Now you should be able to access the HPSIM homepage by browsing to<br \/><span style=\"font-family:courier new;\">https:\/\/yourserver<server>:2301<\/server><\/span><br \/>logging in with your vSphere root credentials, and now you should have a link to ACU at the homepage.<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE:<\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size:100%;\">The correct URL for the HP System Management page is:<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'courier new'; \">https:\/\/yourserver<server>:2381<\/server><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size:100%;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'courier new'; \"><server><br \/><\/server><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So I had this issue where I needed to modify RAID controller settings and add more drives on a DL380 G6 running VSphere 4.0 Update 1 while in production with no downtime.Here&#8217;s how it&#8217;s done: Download the &#8220;HP Management Agents for VMware ESX 4.x&#8221; here and the &#8220;HP Array Configuration Utility for Linux&#8221; here.
